Tyler Richards was sentenced in Pueblo District Court on Friday, Oct. 1 to a new prison term for killing the new boyfriend of his ex-girlfriend in 2016 after the Colorado Court of Appeals determined the charges against him had been erroneously combined during his original sentencing.
Colorado 10th Judicial District Judge William Alexander originally sentenced the 26-year-old Pueblo man to two life sentences without the possibility of parole.
Richards has been serving his sentence in the Colorado Department of Corrections after he was found guilty of murdering Bradley Trager, 21, in 2018.
Following Friday's proceedings, Richards will serve one lifetime sentence without the possibility of parole in the DOC in addition to six years served concurrently for a charge of kidnapping.
